The original Dometic refrigerator, Model #M-35,  works great...it just needed a good scrubbing and a few "luxury items" like shelves in the door...

The face of the door matches the countertops & stove...

...and the inside is a cool aqua & cream color scheme.
The freezer compartment, albeit small, even makes ice cubes and keeps ice cream frozen!

Now here's it's only fault...It had no shelves in the door...

So, off to Cherokee RV Salvage to look for the proverbial "needle in the haystack"!  We spent about two hours there one saturday morning, Rob scrounging around for "whatever" and I sifting through the piles and piles of dead refrigerator parts, looking for "I didn't know what...but they had to have it"!

Finally, after much ado, there it was...in the back behind the warehouse, in a rack of all shapes & sizes of fridge doors...an orange door that kinda looked like it was the same year as ours...with the plastic inserts!  Sure enough, I checked them out with our door that I brought with us...and they fit!

Cherokee isn't exactly the kinda place that has price tags on anything...you just have to ask, while pretending you could take or leave the dirty treasure you desparately want...so here's the deal, they wanted $125 for the door, with the shelves...but I only wanted the shelves!  I was actually considering purchasing the whole door just for the butter/cheese compartment door & egg shelf, at any cost!

So after stalling for awhile, I finally asked if I could buy just the inserts...by this time it was closing time, and I talked sense into myself and decided that if I didn't get these without the door, I'd go home empty handed.  The bottom line...I got both inserts for $10...such a deal! I would have paid twice that...and I'm still not sure I wouldn't have bought the whole door had they not accepted my suggestion to sell me just the inserts.

Ta Da! They fit perfectly...

Now that I have located two of the three errant parts, I'm on a quest to find the other one...Cherokee had several other shelves like these, but for different sized refrigerators...none that fit the bottom section of ours.

I am looking for that bottom shelf, I'm not sure exactly what it looks like...I've never seen one, but it must look similar to the others don't you think?

The opening measures approximately 13-1/2"and the knobs that it attaches to protrude about 1/4" with a clear dimension between them being about 13".  The shelves are a light aqua colored plastic (not smoke-colored) with a grid pattern and snap onto the molded knobs on the sides.

Here's what the knobs that the shelf/bar snaps onto looks like...

If you have one of these bottom shelf inserts that you could part with, please contact us ~ we would love to buy it from you...or if you have the same fridge with this shelf & could send me a picture of it so I know what to look for, I would appreciate that too!
