We took a day trip from Cancun to the Mayan Ruins of Chiche'n Itza'...and it was a gorgeous day!

El Castillo "The Castle" West Face

Way-bad-hair-day after swimming in the Cenote', but I had to put this one in to prove
we actually climbed the steps!

The view of the steps from the top on the west face of the pyramid...we climbed the north face which was in the shade, but it did not have the "rope handrail" to hold onto!  Rob had to take this picture... there was no way I could look straight down like that!

It's 92 steep steps to the top...boy, was I sore the next day!

These are details of some of the carvings on top of the pyramid...

...and some of the the views from the top are shown below

The Ball Court from El Castillo

The Temple of the Warriors & the Plaza of the Thousand Columns from El Castillo

Unfortunately, they were filming something on top of this building in the afternoon.  The scale of this structure was so amazing though that I had to include this shot. I was glad we were able to get a better picture from the ground (i.e. without too many people) earlier in the day...see below

Platform of the Eagles & Jaguars

This was one of our favorites because it made us think of our "kids" at home
